What irradiance levels should I have during a thermographic inspection?
The irradiance (nadir - 90° to the module) must exceed 600W/m2 at the time of data capture. Changing weather and cloud cover can mean that irradiance drops below this value. You must be aware of conditions at all times and, if necessary, pause or postpone a flight until the irradiance returns to the required levels. If you continue to perform the inspection while the irradiance is too low, this will be visible during Above's analysis process and we may request you refly the affected areas.
Measuring irradiance
1. Choose a photovoltaic module in the zone you are about to fly.
2. Select W/m2 as the irradiance units (W/B Switch). Set range to "000".
3. Place the irradiance meter ON the panel, so that the sensor is perpendicular to the plane of the panels.
4. Record the irradiance reading in this position before and after every flight on the flight log - available below.
