General
What is SolarGain Mobile used for?
SolarGain Mobile is the on-site companion to the SolarGain portal. It lets you carry out
inspections, update task lists, and scan serial numbers directly in the field, with data syncing back to the portal for project and site managers.
Who typically uses the app?
Site technicians, technical advisors, and any personnel working on site who want to capture and update site data. Users back in the office can review and manage this information in the SolarGain portal.
Does SolarGain Mobile work offline?
Yes. You can prepare solar plants for
offline use before heading into the field. Inspections, tasks, and serial number scans can be captured
offline and synced back once a connection is available. This video explains how to scan serial numbers offline when your internet connection is weak or unavailable on-site.
Inspections
What can I do with inspections in the app?
You can perform site
inspections using the plant map, link findings to specific components, add images and notes, and upload them to the SolarGain portal. Images can also be taken on the phone and uploaded to the portal directly, if necessary.
They provide managers and stakeholders with a clear record of on-site issues, supported by geo-located images and descriptions, helping speed up decision-making and corrective actions.
Tasks & Subtasks
What is the Task List feature?
Task Lists allow project or site managers to assign work items from the SolarGain portal to specific personnel in the field. The app is then used to view, complete, and update those tasks.
Subtasks (also referred to as checklists) break larger tasks into smaller, actionable steps. Field staff can tick them off in the app to keep managers updated on progress.
How does this help site teams?
It ensures everyone knows what needs to be done, creates accountability, and gives managers real-time visibility of progress.
Serial Number Scanning
What is the Serial Number feature used for?
Serial number scanning allows personnel to record the unique identifiers of solar plant components directly in the field. These identifiers are then stored in the SolarGain portal for tracking and lifecycle management.
Which components can be scanned?
PV modules, transformers, inverters, combiner boxes, and tracker components.
Why is serial number scanning powerful?
Serial numbers provide a unique ID for each component, enabling precise tracking, warranty management, and long-term asset monitoring.
How can I set a warning sound to help indicate when I have scanned the incorrect number?
Warning sounds can be changed in the general navigation page. The general settings can be found by clicking Home and the hamburger icon in the upper left corner. The settings will display 4 sound options. This video explains how to configure alerts in the serial number scanning process to warn you when a module is scanned incorrectly.
Getting Help
Where can I find detailed step-by-step guides?
