Overview
More sites are requiring serial number scanning to provide a unique identifier for each component. SolarGain Mobile (SGM) is used to scan these numbers. There are instances when serial numbers are scanned incorrectly. In the past, a special request was needed, taking hours/days for the Above Data Services team to delete a batch of serial numbers.
This tool has been created for those using SolarGain, so one or several serial numbers can be deleted immediately from the portal. This allows those who are scanning on site to rescan batches as required.
The changes are shown in the component history, so it is clear what the old serial number was and then a blank field, ready for rescanning.
To find the serial numbers to delete, the Advanced Search button must be used to find the serial number. When the result(s) are found, the button "Serial Number Management" will be displayed.
Clicking on the "Serial Number Management" button will open up a window giving the following options for "Select delete mode":
- Individual module
- Entire table
Delete individual modules
When selecting individual modules, it will display the number of modules at the bottom (e.g. "Clicking confirm will remove serial numbers from 98 selected modules"
The user must type in the word delete to ensure the user is careful and doesn't click Confirm by mistake.
Delete entire table
When selecting entire tables, it will display the number of modules at the bottom (e.g. "Clicking confirm will remove serial numbers from 596 modules found on the same tables as the selected modules"
The user must type in the word delete to ensure the user is careful and doesn't click Confirm by mistake.
Confirmation message
Once the user clicks Confirm, they see a notification confirming the number of modules deleted.
Serial number history
Once a serial number is deleted, the activity will show up in the History drawer on the right, along with the other data related to that module.
The page will need to be refreshed in order to see this blank serial number field, showing the deletion is complete. This can be done by performing a new search, such as noting the table name and position.
